Instruction will be highlighted by current and former Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In addition to our professional athletes, our staff will include major college coaches, plus veteran high school head coaches and coordinators from the Tampa Bay area.

Mike's camp has been under the direction of David Ross for all 13 years. Following a role as defensive coordinator at Illinois State University, where he was also the cornerbacks coach from 2006-08, Ross is currently a charter member of coach Larry Coker's upstart program at the University of Texas-San Antonio.

Ross totes 27 years of coaching experience, including 20 at the collegiate level. Prior to his tenure at Illinois State, Ross spent five seasons (2001-06) as the head coach and athletics director at Bacone College in Muskogee, Okla. He was the Warriors’ first head coach following the program’s reinstatement after a 43-year hiatus and immediately established an NAIA program that was nationally ranked.

Bacone was not Ross’ first rebuilding job, as he took over a Kempner Military Junior College program in 1995 that had not posted a winning season in 20 years. He registered a 33-20 record in his five seasons — including a school-record four consecutive winning campaigns — and produced 42 NCAA Division I prospects, seven of which went on to careers in the National Football League.

Ross spent eight seasons at the high school level in Missouri, beginning as head coach at his alma mater, William Chrisman in Independence, from 1988-92. He then started the football program at Blue Springs South from 1992-94, guiding the 1994 squad to an 11-1 record and the state quarterfinal round.

Ross got his start in coaching as an assistant coach in charge of the defensive line at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Junior College from 1982-84. He then worked with Coker as a graduate assistant at Oklahoma State from 1984-86 before serving as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at Central Methodist (Mo.) from 1986-88.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Central Methodist in 1982 and master’s degrees in public school administration from UMKC in 1994 and sports administration from the United States Sports Academy in 2005. He has four children, Zac, Hayden, Darce and Brogan.

At the press conference hiring Coker, the NCAA National Championship winner as head coach with Miami's Hurricanes said of Coach Ross, "David brings an enormous amount of experience. More importantly, he is a high-character person who carries that hard-hat, lunch-pail mentality to work with him every day."

Coach Ross has been directing camps since 1988 and the mutual ethic has found an inspirational jewel in Mike Alstott.

"I have never been associated with a pro player that gives so much back to the kids," Ross says. "On a wet day, Mike will be the muddiest 'kid' out there. It is an honor and privilege to direct Mike's camp."

Some of our past colleges represented include: University of Miami, Minnesota State, University of Florida, South Florida, Central Florida, Purdue University, Oklahoma State, Army, Illinois State University, Murray State, University of Nevada, University of Louisiana-Lafayette, Valdosta State, Alabama-Birmingham, as well as others. Numerous campers have garnered college scholarships after attending Ross' camps. Most recently, 8-year Alstott Camp alumnus and Lakeland, Florida native quarterback Matt Grothe gained national recognition by steering University of South Florida to a Top 10 national ranking.
