Instruction will be highlighted by current and former Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In addition to our professional athletes, our staff will include major college coaches, plus veteran high school head coaches and coordinators from the Tampa Bay area.

Mike's camp has been under the direction of David Ross for all 13 years.  Ross is the defensive coordinator at Illinois State University. In 2006, while serving as the defensive backfield coach, Ross mentored his corners toward 17 interceptions on the season, the highest team total at ISU since 1989. Prior to his current stint with the Redbirds, Ross served as the athletic director and Head Football Coach at Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  In the school's first season since 1957, Ross produced a winning season playing with just freshman. After 5 seasons, Ross had built the Warriors into a nationally recognized program. Ross started his coaching career at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in Miami in the fall of 1982 coaching the defensive line. With the Golden Norsemen, Ross and the team reeled off a pair of 10-1 seasons. In 1983, Ross accepted a graduate assistantship at Oklahoma State under then Cowboys' head coach Jimmy Johnson. Ross worked with the quarterbacks under offensive coordinator Larry Coker. Once Johnson left the Oklahoma State post, Ross worked on the defensive side of the ball under new head coach Pat Jones.

In 1986, Ross returned to his alma mater, Central Methodist in Fayette, Mo., as the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator. In 1988, he was named the head football coach at his high school alma mater, William Chrisman in Independence, Mo., at the age of 28. After four years, Ross was named the head coach at Blue Springs South High School, a start-up program. In his second season, the Jaguars finished with an 8-3 record, before posting an undefeated regular season and an 11-1 overall record in 1994. The success as a prep head coach vaulted Ross back into the collegiate ranks. He was named head football coach at Kemper Military Junior College in Boonville, Mo., in 1995. Under the direction of Coach Ross, Kemper Military became a national junior college power and  placed 42 players at the Division 1 level and 38 more at the 1-AA level.

Throughout Ross' 24 year coaching career, he has coached 10 players that have made it to the NFL. Ross received his bachelor's degree in 1982 from Central Methodist in the area of physical education, and received his master's degree in sports administration from the United States Sports Academy in 2005. Ross's Son, Zac, who attended the Alstott camp for 8 years is now a wide receiver at Harding University after transferring from Oklahoma State University.

Coach Ross has been directing camps since 1988 and has found a jewel in Mike Alstott. "I have never been associated with a pro player that gives so much back to the kids," Ross says. "On a wet day, Mike will be the muddiest 'kid' out there. It is an honor and privilege to direct Mike's camp." Some of our past colleges represented include: University of Miami, Minnesota State, University of Florida, South Florida, Central Florida, Purdue University, Oklahoma State, Army, Illinois State University, Murray State, University of Nevada, University of Louisiana-Lafayette, Valdosta State, alabama-Birmingham, as well as others. Numerous campers have garnered college scholarships after attending Ross' camps. Most recently, 8-year Alstott Camp alumnus and Lakeland, Florida native quarterback Matt Grothe gained national recognition by steering University of South Florida to a Top 10 national ranking.
