In his 12 years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Mike Alstott established himself as the premier fullback in the NFL. His nickname wa the "A-Train" for his bruising style of play. Alstott is well known as a team player and is probably one the most popular players to ever play for the Buccaneers. A Purdue graduate, Alstott lives year-round in the area and is very active in the Tampa Bay community. He was given the key to the city of St. Petersburg in 2003, has made an indelible mark with his charitable efforts and business enterprises.

This past offseason, he founded the Mike Alstott Family Foundation, allowing him to focus on the charities and issues that mean the most to him and his family. Alstott is regarded as one of the best power runners in the NFL, known for running over defenders and breaking tackles. A 6-time Pro Bowler and 4-time All-Pro, he is also one of the few fullbacks in the league who still carry the ball on a regular basis. Alstott is the leading career scorer among non-kickers in Buccaneers history and holds the team record for career touchdowns scored with 71. He was a member of the Buccaneers team that won Super Bowl XXXVII. Alstott had an impressive performance in the game, rushing for 15 yards and a touchdown, the first one in that game, and the first Super Bowl touchdown in Tampa Bay Buccaneers history. Alstott starred at Purdue, where he became the first Boilermaker named MVP in each of his final three seasons. Alstott scored 12 touchdowns as a sophomore, 14 as a junior and 11 as a senior. He averaged 5.6 yards per career during his Purdue career before graduating with a bachelor's degree in business. He finished as Purdue's all-time leading rusher with 3,635 yards, including a school-best 1,436 yards in 1995. He holds the Purdue record for most career rushing touchdowns with 39.
 
 
 

 
 

Alstott lettered in both football and baseball at Joliet Catholic Academy in Joliet, Illinois. As a junior, he led this perennial Chicago Catholic League football power to a state championship with a 14-0 record. Mike also threw the winning two point conversion in the championship game. He was a Parade football All-American and was recognized as Player of the Year by the Chicago Sun Times.
